Andrea Magaña

Andrea Magaña is a communications strategist dedicated to advancing equity and bridging gaps through storytelling, stakeholder engagement, and coalition building. She currently serves as Associate Director of Communications and External Affairs at La Casa Norte, one of Chicago’s leading nonprofits addressing homelessness and housing insecurity.

In this role, she leads efforts to educate the public, mobilize networks, and strengthen community engagement through initiatives such as Hope for Homes Day, a statewide campaign uniting more than 35 housing organizations with the support of leaders at every level of government.

Previously, Andrea served as the communications consultant for the Illinois Latino Agenda, a coalition of Latino-led organizations advancing civic power and representation. There, she helped elevate collective priorities, increase civic participation, and ensure Latino voices were represented in key decision-making spaces.

Andrea has led advocacy and public affairs campaigns focused on statewide legislation, criminal justice reform, environmental protection, and the sustainability of human service providers. Her ability to translate complex policy issues into clear, compelling messages has helped secure broad support for initiatives that strengthen communities and advance equity across Illinois.

Rooted in her experience growing up in an immigrant household, Andrea’s work is driven by a deep understanding of the systemic challenges facing families with limited access to opportunity. She brings a blend of strategic insight, empathy, and collaboration to every project—turning shared goals into actionable strategies.

Andrea holds a Master’s in Public Policy from the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy and a B.A. in Diplomacy and World Affairs from Occidental College.
