Carlos E. Sanchez
Sergeant Carlos E. Sanchez has proudly served the Chicago Police Department for over 25 years, holding leadership roles across patrol, specialized units, training, and administrative commands.
In his current role with the Awards and Recognition Unit, he oversees the evaluation and coordination of commendations, ceremonies, and recognition programs that honor exemplary service and foster morale. Previously, he led critical initiatives in the Training and Support Division, implementing in-service courses on Gender-Based Violence and Constitutional Policing to strengthen officer accountability, community trust, and victim-centered approaches.
Throughout his career, Carlos has demonstrated a commitment to servant leadership, professional development, and community partnership. He has supervised district patrol operations, directed specialized teams, and collaborated with federal agencies to dismantle violent crime organizations. A decorated officer, he has received multiple awards for bravery, lifesaving actions, and community engagement, along with more than 160 honorable mentions for outstanding service.
Carlos holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Safety Administration from Calumet College of Saint Joseph and is fluent in Spanish. His leadership philosophy centers on integrity, equity, and mentorship, with a focus on developing future leaders and strengthening police-community relationships across Chicago.
