Laura Flores
Laura Flores is an award-winning architect and Director of Operations at JGMA, having led the firm’s growth to become one of the largest Latino-owned architecture firms in the United States.
Her responsibilities include management of all employees and holding a leadership role on all the firm’s major projects. Ms. Flores has worked on some of the most complex projects in a multitude of typologies throughout the United States and internationally.
Originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, Ms. Flores is also a tireless civic leader, especially in the Latinx community in Chicago. She has dedicated her career to inspiring Latinx youths and Latina women to achieve their fullest potential. She is currently the Chair of the Chicago Plan Commission, where she has served for 10 years, marking the first time in Chicago’s history that an immigrant architect from Mexico has held this position. Ms. Flores is also a founding mentor and past board member of Arquitinas and currently serves on the board of Esperanza Health Centers. Additionally, Ms. Flores comes from a family of builders and craftsman in Mexico. It is that skill that brought her family to Chicago and inspired her to become an architect.
