Luis Sanchez
Luis Sanchez is a seasoned communications, marketing, and advocacy leader with extensive experience in public affairs, policy, media relations, and organizational strategy. He currently serves as Director of Advocacy and Communications at Healthcare Alternative Systems {HAS), where he leads strategic communications, advocacy campaigns, and digital media initiatives to amplify the organization's mission and elevate its impact on behavioral health and social services across the Chicagoland area.
Through his work, Luis amplifies the voices of underrepresented populations, builds community partnerships, and drives initiatives that promote equity, access, and meaningful outcomes for those most in need.
Prior to HAS, Luis served as Director of Communications and Public Affairs at Chicago International Charter School (CICS), where he led brand management, marketing, and public relations for 13 charter schools primarily serving Latino and African American students across Chicago. In this role, he developed and executed high-impact communications strategies that amplified the voices of Black and Brown students, engaged families and community partners, and strengthened the school network's visibility and reputation. His work ensured that stakeholders, media, and policymakers were connected to CICS' mission of providing equitable educational opportunities and advancing student success.
Earlier in his career, Luis developed extensive expertise in public relations and strategic communications. As a Senior Associate at Greentarget, he managed high-level client relationships and connected thought leaders with top-tier media, driving impactful storytelling and supporting business development initiatives. At Flowers Communications Group, a minority-owned PR firm, Luis led public relations strategy and media relations campaigns for nationally recognized brands, with a focus on reaching and engaging diverse and minority audiences. He successfully secured high-profile media placements across traditional and digital outlets, expanding brand visibility and influence among multicultural consumers while strengthening client positioning in competitive markets.
Luis' career also reflects a strong foundation in public service. He served as a Public Information Officer at the Cook County Board President's Office, leading communications initiatives in healthcare, sustainability, and public safety. He began his public service journey as a Presidential Management Fellow with the U.S. Department of Defense where he subsequently spent over a decade in Washington, D.C., advising multiple U.S. Secretaries of Defense on foreign policy, public affairs, and intergovernmental initiatives.
